Dean Johnson presents paper on "The New Latinx 'Repatriation'?" at UCLA
"The New Latinx 'Repatriation'?"was the topic of a paper Dean Kevin Johnson delivered March 1 at UCLA's Center for the Study of International Migration.
Dean Johnson's talk analyzed how President Trump's immigration enforcement measures, which center on the removal of "criminal aliens," in effect amount to a targeted effort to remove Latina/os from the United States.
The paper is part of a UCLA Law Review symposium on Latinos, Bias, and the Criminal Justice System, which will be published in fall 2019.
A podcast of his speech is available here.
Dean Johnson is the Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
