New episode of Professor Joh's 'Con Law' podcast looks at treason

The latest episode of “What Trump Can Teach Us About Con Law,” Professor Elizabeth Joh’s podcast with Roman Mars, concerns treason - a topic that has come up often during Trump’s presidency.

Trump’s critics have invoked the term in regard to some of his actions, and he tweeted “Treason?” after the New York Times ran an anonymous op-ed - attributed to a senior White House official – painting Trump as mercurial and ineffective.

Joh provides historical context through the case of Bill Blizzard, a 1920s union organizer charged with treason against the state after leading an army of West Virginia coal miners into battle against non-union forces, including the local sheriff.

Professor Joh's scholarship focuses on criminal procedure and policing, with a special emphasis on DNA evidence, undercover policing, and new surveillance technologies. She is the recipient of King Hall’s 2017 Distinguished Teaching Award.
