Esmeralda Soria ’11 Elected Fresno City Council President

Esmeralda Soria ’11 has been elected as president of the Fresno City Council. Soria was elected to the council in 2014 and became the first woman to represent Fresno’s District 1. The daughter of Mexican immigrant farmworkers, she has worked as a law professor and as an advisor to California Assembly member Henry T. Perea. She recently was chosen as the 2018 council president by her fellow councilmembers.
