Professor Soucek Presents at University of Chicago School of Law
Professor Brian Soucek spoke at the 8th Annual Constitutional Law Colloquium held at Loyola University Chicago School of Law on November 3-4. He gave a talk titled “Art Exemptions” in which he discussed the Supreme Court’s current Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case and other claims made by artists that their artworks or artmaking shouldn’t be subject to otherwise generally applicable laws.
Professor Soucek holds a JD from Yale Law School and a PhD from Columbia University. He has clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Mark. R. Kravitz in Connecticut, and Judge Guido Calabresi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. His primary teaching and research interests are antidiscrimination law, civil procedure, constitutional law, and refugee/asylum law.
