Professor Frank Publishes Op-ed on Clean Water Act

Professor of Environmental Practice Richard Frank ’74 published an op-ed in Water Deeply regarding efforts by the Trump administration to roll back Clean Water Act protections. Professor Frank encourages California agencies to “take action proactively to use state law to ensure clean water and wetlands protections for all Californians.”

An important step, Frank writes, would be for the state to adopt its own definition of wetlands and to pass state laws protecting them. “The State Water Board’s overdue efforts to adopt a strong wetlands policy will be among the first tests of California’s ability to stand up to the grave assault on the environment and public health taking place in our nation’s capital,” writes Frank.

Frank is a leader in the field of environmental law and the founding Director of the California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law.
