Dean Johnson Appointed to American Bar Association Accreditation Committee

Dean Kevin R. Johnson has been appointed to the American Bar Association Accreditation Committee. The Accreditation Committee is charged with the administration of the law school accreditation process, including review of site evaluation reports, progress reports, and fact-finding reports. It reviews J.D. programs, post-J.D. programs, foreign summer and winter intersession programs, semester abroad programs, and individual student programs for foreign study.

Dean Johnson had been asked on numerous occasions to serve on the committee, and he finally decided to accede when contacted by Harvard Law School classmate Scott Bales, now Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court and Chair of the ABA Accreditation Committee. Other members of the committee include David Brennen, Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Law, Alex Johnson, Professor of Law at the University of Virginia School of Law and former Dean of the University of Minnesota Law School, and Professor Adrien Wing of the University of Iowa College of Law, among other distinguished lawyers, judges, and academics.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
