Professor Joslin Contributes to Revised Uniform Parentage Act
The Uniform Law Commission has approved an updated version of the Uniform Parentage Act, which Professor Courtney Joslin played a significant role in revising. The revised version of the Act, which amends the original 2000 legislation to reflect the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, was drafted by the Uniform Parentage Act Committee, for which Professor Joslin served as Reporter.
The Uniform Law Commission seeks to provide states with non-partisan, well-conceived, and well-drafted legislation that brings clarity and stability to critical areas of state statutory law. The ULC approved the revised version of the Uniform Parentage Act at its annual meeting on July 19.
Professor Joslin is a scholar in the field of family and relationship recognition, with a particular focus on same-sex and non-marital couples.
