Professor Chander Speaks at Global Digital Futures Policy Forum

Professor Anupam Chander spoke at the Global Digital Futures Policy Forum at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs on May 5, 2017. The theme of the Forum was “Internet Fragmentation.”

Professor Chander spoke on a panel focused on the question: “What Would Internet Fragmentation Mean for Global Trade?” Participants on the panel included Merit E. Janow (Dean, Columbia School of International and Public Affairs), Usman Ahmed (Head of Global Public Policy, PayPal), Victoria A. Espinel (President and CEO, BSA | The Software Alliance), Ricardo Meléndez-Ortiz (Co-Founder and Chief Executive, International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development), and Malcolm Lee (Managing Director & Head of Policy, Alibaba Group).

The keynote speaker for the conference was Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman of Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google.               

Professor Chander, Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law, is a leading scholar of international economic law and cyberlaw. He is the author of The Electronic Silk Road: How the Web Binds the World in Commerce, published in 2013 by Yale University Press.
