Professor Cooper Comments for Media on Immigration Arrest at Travis Air Force Base

Professor Holly S. Cooper, Co-director of the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic, commented for media including CBS-13, the Sacramento Bee, and KCRA-3 in Sacramento on the case of two undocumented workers who were detained by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at Travis Air Force Base, where they were checking in to do construction work. When base security checked their identification, the men were found to be undocumented and ICE was informed.

Cooper said the case is unusual because ICE officers don’t usually target law-abiding undocumented workers. “But when they get a call from an Air Force base, they’re probably going to treat it a little more seriously, and come out for the investigation,” Cooper said.

Holly Cooper is a Lecturer and serves as staff attorney at the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic. Her areas of specialty include immigration law and detained immigrants' rights.
