UC Immigrant Legal Services Center Receives Gift from Northgate González Markets

The University of California Immigrant Legal Services Center is pleased to announce that the Northgate González Markets, a chain of family-owned Latino supermarkets in Southern California, will make a gift to support the center’s work on behalf of immigrant students and their families throughout California at various UC campuses.

“This gift will enable us to continue to provide much-needed free, quality services to our students in order to ensure their academic success and contributions to California and the country,” stated María Blanco, Executive Director of the UC Immigrant Legal Services Center.

"Northgate González Markets, founded by proud Mexican immigrants, is a family owned and operated grocery chain. We are committed to supporting DREAMers, who wish only to access and live the American Dream of opportunity and inclusion.  Faith and perseverance has guided the success of the González family, and we believe our Nation's DREAMers, if given the opportunity, will achieve immeasurable success that will enhance their lives and make our state and county stronger," said Oscar González, Co-President of Northgate González Markets.

Launched in 2014 by the University of California Office of the President, the Immigrant Legal Services Center operates out of UC Davis School of Law in cooperation with the Immigration Law Clinic to provide high-quality legal assistance to support the needs of undocumented and AB 540-eligible students and their families at UC Davis, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC San Francisco, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz.

At the donor’s request, the amount of the gift is undisclosed.
