Professor Joh Interviewed on NPR Regarding Police Body Cameras

Professor Elizabeth Joh was interviewed on Here & Now, a news magazine program produced out of WBUR in Boston and syndicated to National Public Radio stations across the country, regarding a promise by Axon—formerly Taser International—to provide free body cameras to every police department in the United States.

Professor Joh said that although these devices are often seen as boons to policing, they raise many questions about how they will be used, what may be recorded, and how that data may be used or stored. Those questions should be addressed before body cameras are put into widespread use, she said.

Professor Joh's scholarship focuses on criminal procedure and policing, with a special emphasis on DNA evidence, undercover policing, and new surveillance technologies. She is the recipient of King Hall’s 2017 Distinguished Teaching Award.
