Dean Johnson Cited on Trump Budget by San Francisco Chronicle

Dean Kevin R. Johnson was among the legal experts cited by the San Francisco Chronicle in an article on the potential impacts of President Trump’s budget proposals.

The proposed budget would increase by $80 million funding for immigration courts, direct an additional $314 million to hire and train Border Patrol agents, add $1.5 billion to expand transportation, detention and removal of the undocumented, plus an additional $2.6 billion for border security and infrastructure, including a wall between Mexico and the United States. Dean Johnson states that adding more immigration judges could reduce the backlog cases facing immigration courts.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
