Professor Joslin Co-authors Brief in Case about Children Born to Same-Sex Married Couples

Professor Courtney Joslin participated in drafting an amici brief filed by over 50 Family Law Professors in support of a petition for certiorari to the Supreme Court in Pavan v. Smith. The suit challenges Arkansas’ refusal to list a same-sex spouse on her child’s birth certificate. The brief argues that the state’s action is inconsistent with principles of family law and flouts the Supreme Court’s prior decisions in Obergefell and Windsor.

Professor Joslin is a scholar in the field of family and relationship recognition, with a particular focus on same-sex and non-marital couples.
