Dean Johnson Comments for KQED on Trump Immigration Policy

Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented for Bay Area public radio station KQED on the Trump administration’s plans to deport millions of undocumented immigrants during its first year. A KQED investigation found that the government likely can ramp up detention capacity quickly, and California’s jails could play a central role.

“I think California’s going to be ground zero when it comes to immigration removals during the Trump administration,” said Johnson.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
