Dean Johnson Comments on Mexico’s Support for Immigrants for NPR’s Marketplace

Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented for Marketplace, a radio program produced by American Public Media and broadcast on National Public Radio stations nationwide, on the Mexican government’s announcement that it will provide $50 million to help immigrants fight deportation.

Although some have criticized the move as an encroachment on U.S. sovereignty, Dean Johnson said it was merely “ensuring that the Mexican citizens who are here know what their rights are.”

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
