Dean Johnson Comments on California Immigrant Rights Bill for KXTV

Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented for Sacramento television station KXTV on SB 6, a bill by California Senator Ben Hueso that would create a state program to provide affordable legal representation for noncitizens in removal proceedings.

Immigrants in removal proceedings may face months of detention and the prospect of permanent separation from their families and communities, yet have no recognized right to government-funded legal representation, the article notes. “The truth is, if you don’t get an attorney, you’re much more likely to be removed," Dean Johnson said.
