Dean Johnson Comments on Trump Immigration Order for eFM

Dean Kevin R. Johnson was interviewed on eFM, Korea's top-rated English-language station, regarding President Trump’s recent executive order on immigration.  Dean Johnson explained the current legal standing of the order, which is on hold pending review by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as well as its far-ranging economic impacts.

The fact that a number of high-profile business such as Apple, Google, and Facebook have signed onto an amicus brief criticizing the travel ban “makes it clear, if there was any doubt, that these kinds of immigration decisions have national economic impacts. It’s not clear if you look at the executive order that the Trump administration paid attention or tried to weigh all of the possible impacts of this action,” said Johnson.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
