Dean Johnson Comments on Trump Immigration Plan for Sacramento News & Review

Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's plans to build a wall across the U.S.-Mexico border and deport millions or undocumented immigrants for the Sacramento News & Review.

Dean Johnson said construction of the wall would likely result in "more deaths" as desperate people continued to attempt the already difficult border crossing, and deporting approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants would require ongoing military-style raids.

"If Donald Trump is serious about a mass deportation campaign, and is really trying to deport 11 to 12 million people, it's going to affect just about every aspect of American social life," he said.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
