Professor Chin Presents to Riverside County Bar Association

Chin and alumniProfessor Gabriel "Jack" Chin presented to the Riverside County Bar Association (RCBA) on working with the UC Davis Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA) to seek the posthumous bar admission of Hong Yen Chang.  Hong Yen Chang, the first Chinese American lawyer in the United States, was denied admission to the California bar in 1890 because of his race; the California Supreme Court admitted him in 2015.

Also presenting was Joshua Meltzer, who represented APALSA pro bono.  Chin and Meltzer were welcomed by former RCBA president Brian Unitt '83 and current president Kira Klatchko '04.  Unitt presented Chin with a donation from his firm, Holstein, Taylor and Unitt, for the UC Davis APALSA.
