Professor Imwinkelried Interviewed on KPCC

On March 4, Professor Edward Imwinkelried was interviewed by reporter Nick Roman on public radio station KPCC in Los Angeles.  The subject of the interview was the forensic analysis of a recently discovered knife that some speculated could be linked to the highly publicized 1994 murder of Nicole Simpson, wife of football superstar O. J. Simpson, who was accused and acquitted in the case.

Professor Imwinkelried discussed the difficulties that a forensic laboratory might encounter in obtaining either DNA or fingerprint evidence from the knife.  In addition, he commented on the chain-of-custody issue that would arise at trial if a litigant attempted to use the results of a 2016 forensic analysis of the knife as evidence of what happened at the time of the murder years earlier. (Since the interview, Los Angeles Police sources have said the knife appears to be unconnected to the murder.)

Professor Imwinkelried is a world-renowned evidence expert and has published extensively in the field.
