Professor Lewis Comments for Associated Press on California Attorney General Investigation

Professor Evelyn Lewis commented for an Associated Press article that ran in numerous leading news outlets including the New York Times on the California Attorney General's investigation of the Center for Medical Progress, a nonprofit organization that has drawn media attention for its release of hidden camera videos of Planned Parenthood officials.

Professor Lewis noted that the attorney general could be investigating whether the group acted outside its stated purpose in recording and circulating the videos, but added that it is unlikely the nonprofit acted outside its purposes.  She also observed that the organization does not appear to be lobbying for any particular law or campaigning for any particular candidate.

"It's not necessarily illegal for them to have an agenda," Lewis said.

Evelyn A. Lewis is a Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law and a legal scholar whose interests include Business Planning, Property (Including Property Theory), Nonprofit Organizations, Trusts, Wills, and Estate Planning.
