King Hall Team Shines in Jessup International Moot Court Competition

Jessup 2015 Student CompetitorsJunyong Huang '15, Sammy Duvvuri '15, Anita Barooni '16, Junteng Zheng '16, and Ronny Hamed '15 represented UC Davis School of Law at the 2015 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. The U.S. Pacific Regional Qualifying Round was held at Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon on February 27-March 1.

Following its momentum from last year, King Hall once again advanced to the quarterfinals after it had placed sixth of 20 teams in the preliminary rounds. After defeating teams from the law schools of University of Toledo, University of the Pacific-McGeorge, and University of San Francisco, the King Hall team narrowly lost to University of Denver, one of the two eventual finalists. In addition, King Hall received an award for 4th-Place Memorial (brief) at the competition.

The team is immensely grateful to Moot Court Board Advisor Michael Canzoneri for his dedicated coaching, as well as international law scholar Professor Karima Bennoune, Jessup alumnus John Melis '14, and Davis-based attorney Mike Schaps for their invaluable feedback as guest judges in the team's practice rounds
