Professor Chander Serves as Delegate to Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Group

Professor Anupam Chander served as an official delegate to the Senior Officials Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation group in the Philippines in February. Usually shortened as APEC, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation is a forum for 21 Pacific Rim member economies that seeks to promote free trade and economic cooperation throughout the Asia-Pacific region. China, Indonesia, Japan, Russia, South Korea, and the United States are all members of APEC.

Professor Chander spoke at a session on good practices in promoting services growth. The session was jointly sponsored by the Group on Services, the Economic Committee, and the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council.

Professor Chander addressed the gathering of senior officials from APEC nations on issues of digital trade, including the cross-border flow of services.

Professor Chander, a leading scholar of international economic law and cyberlaw, is the author of The Electronic Silk Road: How the Web Binds the World in Commerce, published in 2013 by Yale University Press.
