Professors Smith, White Speak at UC Irvine Immigration Law Professors Workshop

On May 21, James F. Smith, Clinical Faculty Emeritus, and Professor Carter White spoke on a panel at the Immigration Law Professors Workshop at the UC Irvine School of Law. 

In the presentation, "Cross-clinic Collaboration and the Intersection of Civil Rights, Immigration and Mental Health," Smith and White discussed the work of the UC Davis Civil Rights and Immigration Law Clinics in obtaining lawful permanent residency and other remedies for a client who had been held in immigration custody and denied medication.  The panel on "Intersectional Clinics" was moderated by Rebecca Sharpless of the University of Miami School of Law, and also featured Violeta Chapin of the University of Colorado School of Law and Uzoamaka Nzelibe of Northwestern University School of Law.

Carter White is Director of the Civil Rights Clinic.  James F. Smith is the Founding Director of the Immigration Law Clinic.
