Professor Chander Speaks at Seoul National University, Open Net Korea

Professor Anupam Chander gave two talks on April 24, 2014 in Seoul, Korea on international issues related to the Internet. He gave a talk on his book, The Electronic Silk Road: How the Web Binds the World Together in Commerce at the Seoul National University Law School, as part of the Foreign Authority Forum. Published by Yale University Press, the acclaimed book provides the first thorough discussion of the law that relates to global Internet commerce.

Professor Chander also spoke on "Global Internet Flows" at a talk hosted by Open Net Korea at the StartUp Alliance. He presented his new paper, "Data Nationalism," forthcoming in the Emory Law Journal. Co-authored with California International Law Center Free Speech and Technology Fellow Uyen Le '11, that paper argues that countries around the world are setting up barriers to the free flow of information. These barriers, the paper avers, will undermine the asserted goals of privacy and security, and may lead to abuse of information by local authorities.

Professor Anupam Chander is a leading scholar in the law of globalization and digitization, and has written widely on international law and cyber law.  He is also Director of the California International Law Center at King Hall.
