Professor Ventry Speaks at New York Law School Tax Lawyering Workshop
Professor Dennis Ventry gave a presentation entitled, "Probability, Professionalism, and Protecting Taxpayers" at the annual New York Law School (NYLS) Graduate Tax Program's Tax Lawyering Workshop on April 28. He discussed the affirmative and disciplinary duties imposed on tax lawyers that require them to make probability assessments about the merits of a client's tax position or tax-favored transaction, and to reflect those estimates with numerical precision.
Professor Ventry is an expert in tax policy and legal ethics. His research interests include tax expenditure analysis, family taxation, professional responsibility and standards of care, tax filing and administration, tax compliance, public finance, and tax and legal history. In addition, he was recently added as a co-author on the casebook, Legal Ethics and Corporate Practice.
