Judge Elizabeth Perris '75 to Retire
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Elizabeth L. Perris '75 has announced plans to retire after 30 years on the Oregon bench. Judge Perris is well-known for mediating disputes in Detroit's bankruptcy and the financial struggles of other cities, including Stockton and Vallejo, as well as for handling the 2004 bankruptcy of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Portland.
In a Wall Street Journal report on her retirement, Judge Perris draws praise from fellow King Hall alum Marc Levinson '73, who represented Stockton and Vallejo in bankruptcy proceedings. "She's a saint," Levinson said. "She is universally liked and respected by parties in the Stockton case no matter how difficult the mediation has been."
