Raha Jorjani Comments on Immigration Law for Daily Journal

Raha Jorjani commented for the Daily Journal on recent court decisions in immigration law.  In the article, "Despite cases assisting immigrants in 2013, critics say broader effort falls short," Jorjani talks about how recent Supreme Court decisions in Moncrieffe v. Holder and Descamps v. U.S. have clarified the law and made it easier for her to advise attorneys who represent clients in criminal cases who could also be subject to deportation proceedings.  Jorjani also said that in California, the recently passed TRUST Act,  which restricts local law enforcement in the state from holding offenders for immigration officials if they would otherwise be let go and if they do not fall into specific offense categories, will be helpful to her clients.

Raha Jorjani is a staff attorney and lecturer with the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic, currently on leave.
