Associate Dean Amar Comments on Syrian Crisis for CBS-13

Vikram Amar, Associate Dean and Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law, answered questions regarding the crisis in Syria for a news report on Sacramento television station CBS-13/CW31. In response to a viewer question as to whether President Obama could take military action without congressional approval, Amar said it was unclear whether this would be within his constitutional authority.

"President Obama might say he has the authority, but some members of Congress disagree, and there are legal scholars on both sides of this issue, so it could go either way," Amar said.
