Uyen P. Le '11 Announced as New Free Speech and Technology Fellow

The California International Law Center at King Hall (CILC) has announced that Uyen P. Le '11 will be the new Free Speech and Technology Fellow.  Uyen will foster the work of faculty, students, and alumni in international, comparative, and transnational law through the CILC speakers' series and conferences, curricular and career development, and partnerships with other organizations.

Uyen completed her undergraduate degree in social and political psychology at Yale University in 2006 and received her J.D. five years later from King Hall, where she earned Certificates in the Public Service Law Program and the Pro Bono Law Program. Her legal studies focused on international human rights law and public international law. During law school, Uyen worked at the Khmer Rouge Tribunal in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and the International Center for Transitional Justice in New York City. Her works on contemporary problems in international law are forthcoming in the American Journal of International Law (in a paper coauthored with Professors Madhavi Sunder and Anupam Chander, CILC's Director), the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation, and the UC Davis Journal of International Law & Policy.

The fellowship is available as a result of a Google Faculty Research Award received by Professor Chander to support his research on "The Free Speech Foundations of Silicon Valley."
