Judge David Rosenberg '74 Awarded California Judges Association Humanitarian Award

Yolo Superior Court Presiding Judge David Rosenberg '74 has been chosen to receive the 2012 California Judges Association Humanitarian of the Year Award. This award is presented annually to one California Judge who makes a difference outside of the courtroom.

Judge Rosenberg was appointed to the Yolo County bench in 2003 and has subsequently been elected to office in 2006 and 2012.  This month he completes over four years of service as Presiding Judge of the Yolo Superior Court.  In addition to his judicial duties, Judge Rosenberg serves as Chair of the Trial Court Presiding Judges Advisory Committee and as Co-Chair of the Trial Court Budget Working Group. Recently, he was chosen by California Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye '84 to begin a three-year term as a member of the California Judicial Council, where he has been appointed by the Chief Justice to serve as a member of the Executive and Planning Committee as well as the Litigation Management Committee.

The Humanitarian Award honors Judge Rosenberg's community and public service work, which includes service as Chairman of the Board of two large retirement communities in Napa and Saratoga, active involvement in the Davis Odd Fellows Lodge and the Davis Rebekah Lodge, and service as Chief Patriarch (President) of the Davis Encampment.  He often serves as a master of ceremonies or guest speaker at community and charity events, and has been a speaker for the King Hall Outreach Program. He is also active in the local chapter of the American Inns of Court.
