Meredith Linsky '98 Receives Human Rights Award

Meredith Linsky '98 was honored with the Arthur Helton Memorial Human Rights Award at the American Immigration Lawyers Association 2012 Annual Conference in Nashville on June 14.  The national award recognizes outstanding service in advancing the cause of human rights.

Since 2000, Linsky has served as Director of the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project (ProBAR), where she has advocated for immigrant clients and trained pro bono lawyers, law students, paralegals, and volunteers. In 2011, she took a four-month leave of absence from ProBAR to volunteer in Kampala, Uganda, with the Association of Women Lawyers of Uganda. An AILA news release on the award praises her "passion, care, and consideration for her clients, her staff, and the larger immigrant community."
