Distinguished Professor of Law Emeritus John Oakley has been named as a recipient of the 2102 Oliver Johnson Award for Distinguished Service to the University of California Academic Senate.  The award recognizes outstanding and creative contributions to faculty governance, service to the Academic Senate, and exceptional abilities in working with different university constituents.  In conjunction with the award, the Academic Senate magazine The Senate Source published an interview with Professor Oakley.

Professor Oakley was chair of the Academic Council and faculty representative to the Regents in 2006-2007, and chaired the University Committee on Faculty Welfare in 2004-05, and the UCRS Advisory Board in 2009-10. He also served on numerous Senate committees at UC Davis, including the Faculty Welfare Committee, which he chaired from 1999 to 2003, and the International Education Committee, which he led from 1992 to 1995.  He taught at King Hall from 1975 until his retirement in 2009.
