King Hall Team Advances to Nationals in Transactional Law Competition

On February 17, 2012, students from UC Davis School of Law competed in the Third Annual Transactional Lawyering Meet in Los Angeles, California. The King Hall team of Kristin Charbonnier '13 and Mohammad Sakrani '12, assisted by Chris Gorman '14, took second place in its category and is advancing to the national competition to be held in Philadelphia in March.

The regional event took place at UCLA School of Law and featured teams representing 10 law schools from California, Washington, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. It was sponsored by the Drexel University Earle Mack Program in Business and Entrepreneurship Law and the Practical Law Company. As part of the competition, the King Hall team drafted a term sheet summarizing the terms of employment for the prospective CEO of a closely-held company, representing the company's owner. After submitting their term sheet, the team reviewed and marked up three other term sheets drafted by teams representing the prospective CEO, and participated in three rounds of negotiation over the term sheets.

The Drexel Transactional Lawyering Meet team would like to thank Professor Afra Afsharipour for her guidance and assistance in organizing the team's involvement in and preparation for the competition.
