Professor Reynoso Profiled

Professor Cruz Reynoso is the subject of an article on his appointment by University of California President Mark Yudof to lead a task force charged with investigating the November 18, 2011 pepper-spraying of UC Davis students by university police.  The article, published in the Lodi News-Sentinel, includes an overview of Professor Reynoso's life and career.

"The president wants to address this matter swiftly, and each and every one of us on the board has made it clear that this is of the utmost importance," Reynoso said of the investigation.  "We want this resolved, and we want it resolved fairly."

A member of the UC Davis School of Law faculty since 2001, Professor Reynoso is an internationally known civil rights leader, the first Latino to sit on the California Supreme Court, and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.  He has been awarded the UC Davis Medal, the university's highest honor, and the Law School has established the Cruz & Jeannene Reynoso Scholarship for Legal Access to help students with financial needs.
