Professor Feeney Comments on Gun Sales for CBS-13

Professor Floyd Feeney commented for a news report on CBS-13 on the reported rise in gun sales in the wake of the Arizona shooting that killed six and critically wounded a Congressional representative, prompting calls for a tightening of laws regarding gun ownership.

Professor Feeney said it was unlikely that new regulations would have any lasting impact.  "The courts have made it easier for people to carry guns and legislatures have responded to that," Feeney said.

Floyd Feeney is the Homer G. and Ann Berryhill Angelo Professor of Law at the UC Davis School of Law and the winner of the Law School's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1986 and 2008.  The author of seven books and numerous articles, Feeney has received awards from the National Institute of Justice and the California Probation, Parole, and Correctional Association, and is a nationally recognized scholar on election law.
