Professor Jorjani Speaks at Immigrant Legal Resource Center, NLG Convention

Professor Raha Jorjani spoke on immigration at a recent training session put together by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center in San Francisco and at the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) Annual Convention in New Orleans.

Professor Jorjani spoke at the California In-House Immigration Experts Conference and Training, held in San Francisco July 21, about the ways in which public defenders will find their practice affected by Padilla v. Kentucky, the recent Supreme Court decision that requires attorneys to inform their immigrant clients of the potential immigration consequences that may result from a guilty plea or conviction.

On September 22, Professor Jorjani participated in a panel at the National Immigration Project's Continuing Legal Education session on "Advanced Topics in Deportation and Removal Defense" at the NLG convention.  Professor Jorjani's panel was on "The Impact of Padilla v. Kentucky."

Raha Jorjani is a staff attorney in the Immigration Law Clinic at the UC Davis School of Law with a special interest in advocacy on behalf of detained immigrants.
