Professor Pérez Receives 2010 KHLF Alumni Award
Professor Amagda Pérez, recently honored with the UC Davis School of Law Distinguished Teaching Award, has been named as the 2010 King Hall Legal Foundation Alumni Award recipient.
A member of the King Hall Class of 1991, Professor Pérez attended UC Davis for her undergraduate education, majoring in Spanish and Chicano Studies. She currently serves as the Director of the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic and Executive Director of the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation.
The award was announced February 17 by Amparo Cid, a KHLF Board Member, who praised Professor Pérez' work with the Immigration Law Clinic and CRLAF as well as the wealth of experience in immigration and poverty law she brings to her work supervising clinic students.
"King Hall students have described her as an incredible mentor whose passion for helping clients is contagious," Cid wrote in her announcement. "Beyond being a mentor to current King Hall students, Professor Pérez has extensive experience working with immigrants of varied nationalities and other disenfranchised communities. Professor Pérez has dedicated her career to supporting students at King Hall and to addressing the critical needs of immigrant populations in the United States. We are proud to honor her with the 2010 KHLF Alumni Award."
The King Hall Legal Foundation is a student-run, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that promotes law as tool of social justice.
