Steve White '74 Elected as Sacramento Superior Court Presiding Judge

The Honorable Steven W. White '74 has assumed the duties of Presiding Judge of Sacramento County Superior Court, having been elected to the position by his colleagues on the Superior Court in September.  He will hold the position from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2011, acting as chief administrator and spokesman for the court and overseeing the work of the other 59 Superior Court judges, as well as court referees, commissioners, and staff.

White was appointed to the bench by Governor Gray Davis in 2003.  Prior to that, he was the Inspector General for the State of California from 1999-2003; Hiring Partner and Shareholder, Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard in Sacramento from 1995-1999; District Attorney for Sacramento County from 1989-1995; Chief Assistant Attorney General, State of California from 1983-1989; Executive Director of the California District Attorneys Association from 1979-1983; and Deputy and Supervising Deputy District Attorney for the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office from 1974-1979.
