Professor Sundara Rajan Publishes Book About the Great Indian Poet Subramania Bharati

Mira T. Sundara Rajan, a visiting professor who is teaching several core intellectual property courses for UC Davis Law, has just published a new book, The Coming Age (Penguin Modern Classics), a collection of writings in English by the writer, journalist, activist and Indian National Poet C. Subramania Bharati.

The book advocates for a renewed commitment to equality and human rights, as explored in Bharati’s writings. September marked the 100th anniversary of Bharati’s death.

The book is pending availability in North America (anticipated for December), but Sundara Rajan, who is also Bharati’s great granddaughter, has launched a widely available podcast called Bharati 100 about his work. The podcast features an interview with BBC filmmaker Michael Wood (The Story of India) and music by leading Indian musicians.

Sundara Rajan recently published several pieces about Bharati in the Indian media, including “Poet of the feminine: The legacy of Subramania Bharati," which appeared in The Hindu, India's national newspaper, in September.
