Professor Imwinkelried Records Evidence Lecture for Puerto Rican Bar

At the invitation of the judges of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, Professor Emeritus Ed Imwinkelried recently filmed a two-hour lecture for the Puerto Rican bar. The subject was the admissibility of uncharged misconduct evidence under Federal Rule of Evidence 404(b).

The uncharged misconduct doctrine deals with the admissibility of evidence of misconduct other than the misconduct alleged in the pleadings--such as the other complaints of sexual assault against Bill Cosby.

Rule 404(b) generates more appeals and published opinions than any other provision of the Federal Rules of Evidence.  Imwinkelried is the author of the two-volume treatise, Uncharged Misconduct Evidence 2021 Edition (2020).  The Supreme Court cited a prior edition of the treatise in its leading uncharged misconduct evidence decision, Huddleston v. United States, 485 U.S. 681 (1988).

Professor Imwinkelried is a world-renowned evidence expert who has published extensively in the field.
