Senior Associate Dean Afsharipour's Article 'Women and M&A' Sparks Widespread Interest

Senior Associate Dean Afra Afsharipour’s article “Women and M&A” (forthcoming, UC Irvine Law Review) has generated widespread interest related to Afsharipour’s findings of a stark gender gap that persists in large merger and acquisition transactions. 

The New York Times’ Dealbook highlighted the article on Aug. 16. Axios broke down the numbers in an Aug. 10 article exploring the dearth of women among senior M&A lawyers. Law360 reported on the article the next day, and writer Dan Packel conducted a Q&A with Afsharipour for The American Lawyer published on Aug. 20.   

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Afra Afsharipour’s areas of research include comparative corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law.  Her scholarship has appeared in numerous law reviews, including the Columbia Law Review, the Minnesota Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, and the UC Davis Law Review.
