Merrick Garland Is Confirmed as Attorney General

On March 10, the Senate confirmed Judge Merrick Garland as attorney general. Attorney General Garland will lead the Department of Justice, leaving his position as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Garland pledged to act in the interest of the American people and fight efforts to make prosecutions or investigations partisan or political. Garland’s initial priorities will include the ongoing investigation into the January 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol and the investigation into President Biden’s son Hunter over possible tax fraud.
