Governor Newsom has released his proposed budget for 2019-20. The judicial branch will receive total funding of $4.1 billion, with $2.4 billion allocated to trial court operations. A key focus will be technology, including a pilot program to digitize court records, case management system replacements in 10 trial courts, and projects advancing video court appearances in noncriminal proceedings and voice-to-text interpretation services. The budget also includes pay raises of 3.5% for Judicial Council, California Supreme Court, and appellate court employees. See Courthouse News Service, JD Supra.
