California Embraces Marijuana Law

Legislation aimed at bolstering contracts involving legal marijuana businesses has been signed into law by Governor Brown. Still illegal under Federal law, sharp attorneys in California courts have argued successfully that contracts to sell cannabis are unenforceable. The new law clarifies that attorneys can ethically represent clients who sell marijuana and that marijuana contracts in compliance with California law are enforceable. For more on AB-1159.
