Legal Cannabis in California Still Not So Legal

Although California voters overwhelmingly legalized marijuana last fall, there remain legal limitations to its use. In fact, due to in-state regulatory activity, the law may change from county to county, and may include a complete ban on the cannabis industry in that jurisdiction. In addition, growing and selling marijuana remains illegal under Federal law. In response, California’s legislature is currently reviewing AB-1578 , a bill that would prevent California law enforcement from cooperating with Federal agencies investigating activities legal under the California marijuana law absent a court order.
