Judge Denies Request to Block High-Speed Rail Funding

Sacramento Superior Court Judge Raymond Cadei issued a tentative order to dismiss the lawsuit by Kings County and other opponents’ attempting to block the state from spending $1.25 billion in bond sales for use on the high-speed rail project. The lawsuit challenged AB 1889 that changed previous laws to allow money from high-speed rail bonds to be spent on the electrification of 55 miles of track from south of San Jose to San Francisco. A hearing is expected on May 3rd after which Judge Cadei is expected to issue a final ruling. Read articles in the Los Angeles Times and KCRA.com.
