PG&E Sentenced in San Bruno Pipeline Explosion Case

U.S. Federal District Court Judge Thelton Henderson ordered PG&E to pay a $3 million fine, complete 10,000 hours of community service (2,000 of those hours to be completed by executives), establish a court-appointed monitor and serve five years of probation for crimes in connection to the deadly San Bruno pipeline explosion. Judge Henderson also ordered PG&E to take out full-page ads in the Wall Street Journal and San Francisco Chronicle, plus television ads publicizing the utility’s convictions, the punishment imposed and steps taken to prevent the recurrence of similar crimes.
