Overtime Pay for California Farmworkers

Posted Sep 1, 2016

The California Legislature passed AB 1066 which would expand overtime pay for California farmworkers.  Currently, farmworkers earn overtime after 10 hours a day or after working 60 hours a week.  Under this bill, they would be eligible for overtime the way most laborers are—if they work more than eight hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week.  Similar legislation failed in May of this year and it is unsure whether Governor Brown will sign this one.  Read articles in Courthouse News Service, Los Angeles Times, and the Sacramento Bee.
