Oral Arguments on Lethal Injection Protocol

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Glossip v. Gross, the challenge to Oklahoma’s lethal injection protocol.  During oral arguments  that were described by the media as “fierce” and “antagonistic”, the justices argued with attorneys and one another as they considered the use of a sedative called midazolam that has resulted in troubling executions that may violate the Constitution’s prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment.  Read articles in the Washington Post, NPR and Los Angeles Times.
